Nor, despite the conclusion Anon and you have drawn, does this represent some epiphanous moment. I've been bitching about the Redskins draft philosophy quite a while as well--just perhaps in somewhat less dire terms than some.

For what it's worth, the piece was prompted by 1) the surprise factor of the J. Taylor comment, which I thought merited attention, and 2) my ongoing quixotic quest to flood Redskinsdom cypberspace with DRAFT BIG PEOPLE karma that might miraculously find its way into Redskins Park.

As to what it takes to land a Tom Brady ... that's too large a discussion for this day. We'll go there at some point before footballs fly in the fall again, however. Promise. :)Mark "Om" Stevenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10977539052121255474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3845486561905685878.post-84513011356192028222009-03-06T13:53:00.000-05:002009-03-06T13:53:00.000-05:00Great post Mark. Many of us have been saying for years that Snyderatto knew little or nothing about running an NFL franchise and now it appears you've come to a similar conclusion. Welcome to the party! :-)

My take is that Snyderatto know's they cannot effectively evaluate talent and have resorted to free agency to hide it. The problem is their track record isn't too much better with established NFL vets either.

Unfortunately, that means your "Tom Brady falling in our laps" scenario probably isn't going to happen. After all, the NFL draft is sort of like the old saying that "The harder I work the luckier I get." That is, I think it's highly likely that the "luckiest" teams in the NFL draft are usually the best evaluators of talent.

--EeyoreAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3845486561905685878.post-42481888014430875442009-03-05T15:37:00.000-05:002009-03-05T15:37:00.000-05:00colt would an awesome story if it really panned ou...colt would an awesome story if it really panned out.

im really interested in this draft, with zorn being here.

i really think theyll let him have as much input as gibbs. i think gibbs taught them that.

i too am hoping for an all lines/linebackers kind of draft that really stamps an emphasis on our weaknesses. maybe aAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3845486561905685878.post-74989773063893380542009-03-05T14:48:00.000-05:002009-03-05T14:48:00.000-05:00Thanks for setting me straight, chuckles.By the wa...Thanks for setting me straight, chuckles.

By the way, Tom Brady did indeed fall into NE's lap. He won't fall into our laps. The Patriots draft Tom Brady in the 6th. The Skins draft a crappy punter in the 6th. It is what it is.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
